International Orienteering Relay the 62nd Jukola Relay and the 33rd Venla Relay Kytäjä-Jukola in June 19.-20.2010.

62nd Jukola Relay

An orienteering relay competition with seven legs for teams from orienteering clubs and associations. The winning team will win the challenge prize ‘The Bull of Viertola’, which is donated by the Helsingin Sanomat newspaper.

All the courses include approximately 900 meters of taped route. There will be a spreading system (forking) on all legs. The Sun will set at 10:55 pm on Saturday, June 19th, and rise at 03:49 am on Sunday, June 20th. Competitors born in 1994 – 1995 may run legs 4, 5 and 6. Competitors born in 1993 and earlier may run all the legs. The race will start on Saturday, June 19th, at 10:55 pm as a mass start.

33rd Venla Relay

Orienteering relay competition with four legs for women’s teams from orienteering clubs and associations. The winning team will win a new challenge trophy donated by the Helsingin Sanomat newspaper.

Instructions for both relays

The rules of the Finnish Orienteering Federation (FOF) and instructions given by organizers are applied during the competition. The rules of FOF are available at the FOF website www.ssl.fi.
It is not allowed to use spike shoes. Dobb shoes are allowed. There will be GPS-tracking for the top teams during the competition. The team which refuses to carry the transmitter will be disqualified. Competitor’s own GPS-tracking transmitter and cell phones are allowed during the competition. Defined instructions will be given in competition instructions.

Competition map
Scale is 1:10 000, contour interval 5 m, six colours, in accordance with the IOF standards and will be printed in February 2010. The maps are in plastic map cases. The map is drawn by Arvo Paulin.

Entries
Enter via Internet using the form available at the Kytäjä-Jukola 2010 website by March 1st, 2010 at 12 pm, or by May 17th, 2010 at 12 pm. Late entry ends by June 10th, 2010 at 12 pm. The entry form can also be sent by mail to Kytäjä-Jukola 2010, PL 45, 05801 Hyvinkää, Finland. The entry will be accepted when the entry fee is paid on time.

The club material which includes event invitation and forms for entry and team composition as well as passwords for entry via Internet will be sent on December to all the clubs and associations who participated in Mikkeli-Jukola in 2009

Participants do not need a Finnish Orienteering Federation license. The age limits for juniors must be followed and the information about the runners in the teams must be correct. In both cases, this is the responsibility of the person entering the teams. In the Jukola Relay, both women and men may take part. A woman may, however, compete only in one of the relays. In association teams, only two first class orienteerers in the age categories 17-39 (according to the Finnish ranking 2/2009, final ranking may take part).

A team must have at least three Emit cards. The same cards cannot be used by two teams in the same relay. The same Emit cards can be used in the Jukola and in the Venla Relay. Emit cards can be rented from the organizer at a cost of 10 € per card. Teams willing to rent Emit cards must order these and indicate the number of cards needed in conjunction with the entry. Personal Emit card numbers are not needed in advance. They will be registered in the results system at the competition centre, when the runners enter the starting/exchanging area.

Entry fees
The entry fee is based on the payment day. Notice! In case the fee is not made by the deadline date, the entry fee will be higher according the payment day. The teams, who have paid incorrectly, will not be allowed to start.

The entry fees for teams entered by March 1st, 2010 are 175 € per team in the Jukola Relay and 100 € per team in the Venla Relay. During the period March 2nd 2010 – May 17th 2010, the fee for the Jukola Relay will be 215 € per team and 120 € per team for the Venla Relay. The late entry fees and entry fees paid during the period May 18th- June 10th 2010, the fee for the Jukola Relay will be 300 € per team and 170 € per team for the Venla Relay.

An additional 10 € must be added to cover bank charges, which is not necessary, though, if the payment is made in another EU member or ETA state, and in euro.

Team Composition
The team composition (running order) can be entered on the Internet at the same time as the teams are entered, or later, by using the passwords – see the entries information above. The composition of the teams for both relays must be entered on the Internet by 10.00 a.m. on Saturday June 19th 2010 at the latest.

The team composition can also be submitted by mail to the Kytäjä-Jukola 2010 office by June 16th 2010 at the latest, using the form which will be sent to all teams together with the club material. Number bibs (notice there are no safety pins provided by organizers) and other team material will not be available before the team composition is delivered and the entry fees have been paid.

Accommodation
Accommodation takes place primarily in clubs’ own tents in the camping area provided. Each club/team can book the camping area at the same time as the teams are entered. Each 10 x 10 meter camping area costs 10 euro. The payment must be made in conjunction with the team entry.

In addition it is also possible for teams to rent non-heated military tents (each for 16 people) at a cost of 125 euro per tent. The military tent area is located right next to the competition centre. There are 350 tents which will be reserved in the booking order. Military tents should be reserved when entering the teams. The reservation will be valid as soon as the fees are paid.

In addition school accommodation at the cost of 20 euro per person per night is available. Other accommodation alternatives will be informed on the website of Kytäjä-Jukola.

Caravan and mobile home site is about 1400-2100 meters from the competition centre. The fee per caravans and mobile homes are 25 €.

Service tents for the teams
Clubs and associations have a possibility to book a tent area (5 x 6m) for its service tent near the exchanging/finishing area. The 50 best teams of the Jukola 2009 have the first call to the tent areas in the first row and other clubs get their area in the booking order (the number of tent areas is limited). Clubs with at least 8 teams (Jukola + Venla) may use two tent areas. The fee per tent area is 30 euro. Reservations and payment must be made in conjunction with the team entry.

Returning the maps
After the competition the teams will get a set of new maps with all the controls and dispersions printed on them. In addition all competitors get their own course map (not the same map used in the competition).

Competition centre
Is located in Kytäjä, along the road of Hyvinkää-Läyliäinen (1361), approximately 6 km from the highway exit to the west. The competition centre will be opened on Friday, June 18th 2010, at noon. There is a canteen, first aid services, and info desk, limited post and currency exchange services, as well as shops and exhibition areas at the competition centre.

There is a free shuttle bus to the competition centre from the Hyvinkää railway station. The bus drives through Rantasipi and accommodation schools. There are also free buses to the competition centre from Klaukkala, Nurmijärvi and Rajamäki bus stations. Bus routes will be announced later on the website of Kytäjä-Jukola.

Parking
All cars must be parked according to the instructions given by the organizers on site. The car park is located 900-1800 meters from the competition centre.

The bus park is located on the industrial area approximately 7 km from the competition centre. Unloading and loading of buses may take place in the competition centre. More information about the traffic and parking will be available in the website of Kytäjä-Jukola.

Parking fees
Parking fee for a private car is 10 euro and for caravans 25 euro, which will be paid upon arrival. The fees for buses are 35 euro and it must be paid in conjunction with the team entry.

Jukola road signs
Kytäjätie number 1361 is closed from public traffic at the competition centre. Club buses, private cars and caravans as well as mobile homes will be guided to the competition centre from the west VIP and media traffic will be guided from direction of Hyvinkää. Road signs are in place as from Friday, June 18th, 2010 at 9.00 am., and they must be followed.

The race will be signposted from the following locations:
· From the south and east at the crossroads of roads 3 and 25 (the interchange number 15 of the road 3)
· From Forssa at the crossroads of roads 54 and 132
· From the north at the crossroads of roads 3 and 143  (the interchange number 17 of the road 3)
· From Lohja at the crossroads of roads 25 and Herustentie.

Rastiralli and adventure tracks
Rastiralli orienteering track for kids is open from Friday untill Sunday. More information will be available later on the website of Kytäjä-Jukola.

Dressing and showers
Dressing in clubs own tents.  There are warm showers and a sauna (chargeable) in the competition centre.

On the competition weekend there is a training possibility right next to the competition centre.  Maps will be sold in the information desk.
