How to operate in Kytäjä-Jukola

COMPETITION CENTRE
Competition centre is located at Kytäjä in Hyvinkää on the road Kytäjäntie (road number 1361) to the direction Läyliäinen, about 6 km from Hämeenlinna highway to the west. You need to drive to the competition centre according to the guidance or take a local bus.

TRAFFIC
Club buses, cars, caravans, mobile homes, and motor bikes will be directed to the competition centre from the west. VIP and media/press traffic will be directed to the competition centre from the direction of Hyvinkää. Kytäjäntie, the road nr. 1361, will be closed for other traffic between Thursday 17.6 4 pm - Monday 21.6 noon at Hyvinkää end immediately after Hämeenlinnanväylä (Hämeenlinna highway). Motor vehicles with no permission will be prohibited to enter the area at the roadblock so please follow the guidance strictly!

The guidance starts:

  • from north, south and east at the crossing of the roads number 3 and 25 (the viaduct/ exit number 15 of Hämeenlinnanväylä, the highway number 3)
  • from direction Forssa at the crossing of the roads 54 and 132
  • from direction Lohja at the crossing of roads 25 and 1311 (Rajamäentie)

The traffic information will be broadcasted by the radio YLEn Aikainen 94,0 Mhz.

CARS
All cars must be parked in the parking areas following the instruction given by the officials. Parking fee 10 EUR must be paid upon arrival. Please reserve the exact change. Keep the parking ticket visible until you exit the area. The parking rows are numbered and you can find the row number at the upper side of the row. Please keep the row number in your mind to find your car easier! The brochures of the program will be given at the parking places.

Parking for families with children and for disabled is the closest to the competition centre. The Disable – permission sign must be clearly visible at the front window. There is only limited capacity in this special area so that after it is fully occupied the cars will be directed to the normal parking areas. Only families with seats for babies and small children are accepted to this parking. Parking fee is collected upon arrival to the car park.

Follow strictly the guidance, signs and the signs of the parking personnel. There are several parking areas and they will be filled according to the plan. The distance from the car park to the competition centre is 900 – 1800 m. The pedestrians need to follow the marked routes strictly. Transportation of tents, equipment and camping wear will be arranged from the car park. The unloading is located between the military tent area and accommodation area T4 (see the map). Passengers can be dropped at the Kartano crossing (see the map).

Note! Don’t leave valuables visible to the car.

CLUB BUSES
The club buses will be directed to the competition area from the west. The unloading and loading of buses will take place at the competition centre. The traffic direction of buses will be changed from east to west on Sunday morning 20.6 at 7.00

The bus will drive via Kytäjäntie to the bus unloading place until the parking personnel stops it. The bus should be unloaded quickly and mainly from the right side if possible. From the unloading place the buses will drive to the bus park located at the parking place of Kone Oyj in Hyvinkää 7 km from the competition centre.

Parking tickets must be purchased in advance from Jukola office.

The club leader and the bus driver will receive a Kytäjä-Jukola bus park number that must be visible in the bus during the parking. Keep the number in safe until the recall of the bus on Sunday. Also the teams that have no bus in the bus park need to take the bus parking number to the team leader and the driver. Note! The bus driver needs to give the bus parking number to the bus whether he is not going to bring the team himself.

Returning with the club bus
The team will collect all their belongings to the first free bus stop (1-15). When all the things and people are complete the team will inform that they are ready to the officer at the bus stop nr. 7. The officer will call the bus based on the number. The driving time is ca. 10 minutes.

The bus will receive a green numbered driving permission card from the parking lot at Kone Oyj. If all places are occupied the teams form a second row behind the first row starting from the bus stop nr. 1. When the bus enters the bus stop, load quickly from the left side of the bus and leave.

NOTE! Also those buses that will only come to collect the team must go to the Kone Oyj parking lot according to instructions and wait for the call (as the buses that stay overnight on the park). Without the bus parking number and the green driving permission card the bus can’t go and collect the team.

CARAVANS AND MOBILE HOMES
Caravans and mobile homes will be directed to the parking area reserved specifically to them. No electricity is provided. Parking tickets can be purchased in advance or at place. The price in cash is 25 Euros. The receipt of the advance payment must be shown! The ticket must be visible in the vehicle. Caravan and mobile home parking is open at 12 o’clock on Friday. There is drinking water and Toilets available in the area. Distance to the competition centre is about 2000 m. Campfire and barbequing is forbidden in the area outside the caravan.

BIKES AND MOTOR BIKES
Motor bikes need to follow the guidance for cars. Entering the competition center is from the west. Motor bikes must be parked in the parking area reserved specifically to them, distance to the competition centre is 1500 m. No parking fee.

Parking for bikes is near the competition centre in Kivisilta field and additionally south of the showers for those who come from the west. Bicyclists may arrive to competition centre from both directions.

BUS TRANSPORTATION

The bus transportation is arranged from Hyvinkää, Klaukkala, Nurmijärvi and Rajamäki. Everybody can take the bus for free.
1. The route from Hyvinkää is: Hyvinkää railway station – Hotel Rantasipi – accommodation schools – ABC station – Kivisilta field. Distance from Kivisilta field to the competition centre is 500 m.
2. The route from Klaukkala: Klaukkala bus station - Nurmijärvi bus station – Rajamäki bus station – Noppo – ABC – Kivisilta field. Distance to competition centre is 500 m.
The schedule from Hyvinkää railway station is nonstop starting on Saturday 19.6 at 7.00 until Sunday 20.6 at 18.00.

INFO
The Info is located in the competition centre in Info tent. In the info tent you can also find the competition office and the distribution stand for the team material.

INFORMATION BOARD AND GUIDANCE
The general information boards are located near the Info. The guidance is indicated with signs and local boards. The main information pile with signs is located near the Info. There are separate information piles in three places: near Kivisilta field for those who come by bus, in connection of the military tents of the organizer, and in connection of the area for the club service tents.

FORBIDDEN AREAS
Forbidden areas at the competition centre are marked with fences and with “Saint Gobain” –bands and in the terrain with “Saint Gobain” – band.
Only competitors running their leg can enter the competition terrain. Trespassing on the forbidden areas causes the disqualification of all teams representing the club in question. It is also forbidden for the public to enter the competition terrain.

FOLLOWING THE COMPETITION AND PHOTOGRAPHING
Starts and changeovers can be followed at the competition centre in an area reserved specifically for spectators. In the competition centre there is a video screen that shows telecasting from the competition terrain. Competition speakers can be listened to in the accommodation area in Jukola Radio (frequency 90,0 Mhz).

SERVICE TENTS
Service tents of the clubs can be set up at the tent sites shown by the officials. The clubs that have reserved a service tent site can see their numbered reservation on the website of Kytäjä-Jukola, on the notice board in the competition centre and in the outskirts of the service tent site. Camping at the service tent area is forbidden. The use of open fire, gas grills etc. is strictly forbidden!

MILITARY TENTS
Military tents (350 pcs) will be set up in the southern part of the Hyvinkää – Läyliäinen road.

The tents will be numbered with a Serla number flag on the top of the tent. The clubs that have reserved a Military tent have a named tent. The numbered and named tents are seen on the website, in the outskirts of the tent area, on the notice boards. More information can be asked from the Info. Guidance in the area is available starting on Friday 18.6 at 12.00 am. The use of open fire, gas grills etc. is strictly forbidden!

ACCOMMODATION AREAS
Accommodation near the competition centre takes place in the pre-reserved camping areas. The tent areas are numbered. The numbers and the places can be seen on the outskirts of the tent areas, on information and notice boards and in Kytäjä-Jukola website. Guidance in the area is available starting on Friday 18.6 at 12.00 am. The use of open fire, gas grills etc. is strictly forbidden!

SCHOOL ACCOMMODATION
Those who booked a school accommodation need to bring their own mattress, sleeping bag and towel. There are toilets and showers available. It is strictly forbidden to walk wearing your orienteering shoes inside at the school or wash them the school premises. The school accommodation is open from Friday 18.6 at 18.00.

OPEN FIRE
It is strictly forbidden to make open fire at the competition centre or in the accommodation areas. The use of camping cookers and heating stoves inside the tents is also forbidden. The use of the open fires is controlled. This is the strict rule of the Fire officials!

DRINKING WATER
There are seven water points located at the competition centre and in the accommodation areas. They are marked on the map. Additionally, there are water taps at the start/warm-up area and behind the finish. It is forbidden to use these taps for washing sporting equipments and clothes. Sport equipment can be washed only at the washing point that is situated near the showers.

WASTE DISPOSAL
There are several waste disposal points in the competition centre. In the two main disposal points there are waste bins for the following assorted waste types: bio waste, board, glass, metals, paper, hazardous waste, deposit bottles and cans, mixed waste. The main disposal points are market in the area map. Please assort according to the instructions in the disposal points. There is a waste assorting guide in the main disposal points.
In the competition material there are two litter bags delivered to each team, of which one is for the bio waste and one for mixed waste. It is forbidden to throw energy gel covers etc. to the terrain! Leave the gel etc. packaging to the waste bins in the drinking points.

TOILETS
There are several toilets in the competition centre and they are all marked in the area maps and also pointed out with a balloon. Please note that in the start and changeover area there are 40 toilets and urinals and two toilet units that are for ladies during Jukola relay. There are also water taps for hand washing near the toilets.

WASHING, SHOWERS & SAUNA
The washing area with showers is located in the competition centre and is marked in the map in the program booklet. The washing area is equipped with 60 showers and a tent sauna.
The sauna will be warm from Saturday 14.00 until Sunday 17.00, and it costs 2 EUR. The sauna is for ladies during Saturday 14.00 -23.00, otherwise for men.
Tickets can be bought in advance at the Info or pay at the sauna. Showers are open on Friday at 12-22.00 and between Saturday 9.00- Sunday 17.00.

FIRST AID
At the competition centre, there is a first aid station with a doctor. The location is indicated in the maps in the program booklets and the competition bulletin. There are also three first aid points in the competition terrain, which are marked on the competition maps – two points in Venla relay and three in Jukola. There are also first aid group in the change area and in the finish area.

TRAINING AND SELLING OF MAPS

The training terrain for Kytäjä-Jukola is located to the north and northeast of the competition terrain. More information about training for Kytäjä-Jukola can be found at http://www.jukola2010.net/sivut/pages/en/competition-info/training.php.

Model orienteering
The model orienteering terrain for the event weekend is located right next to the competition centre to the west. The offset printed map, course marking, control descriptions and control setup for the model orienteering equal the ones used in the competition. Model orienteering and training maps are sold at the Info tent starting on Thursday 2 pm for 5 EUR each. Emit results of the model orienteering can be downloaded and printed at the Info tent. Training maps are sold in the Jukola office before the opening of the competition centre.

Selling of competition maps
Competition maps with all controls are sold on Sunday after restart at the Info tent for 5 EUR each.

BANK SERVICES
The restaurants at the competition centre (not grills), the Jukola shop and the competition office all accept credit cards (Visa, Visa Electron, MasterCard, Maestro Card). No exchange or cash withdrawal possibilities.

POST OFFICE
Postal services are available at the Jukola-shop. Kytäjä-Jukola has its own stamp and postal stamp.

ECCLESIASTICAL SERVICES
The Lutheran Congregation of Hyvinkää and Nurmijärvi jointly organizes a traditional Forest Mass on Saturday June 19 at 21.00. The Forest Church is located about 700 meters from the competition centre in the Kivisilta field. Also other religious services are available for request.

TAXI
There is a taxi stand in Kivisilta field near the public bus stops. You can also call Hyvinkää taxi +358 19 106400.

CHILDREN’S WORLD - FOR CHILDREN
Rastiralli is a children’s orienteering event. The children world is located in the southeast corner of the completion centre field. Cost is 3 euros including a small prize. Open on Saturday 9.00-20.00. The first 300 will receive a Serla T-shirt.

BABIES ROOM – FOOD AND NURSING
A place to warm food, wash and change diapers is located in a toilet cabin near the restaurant and children’s world. A second place for warming food is in the cafeteria of the main restaurant. See the signs “baby bottles” in instruction boards and near the places.

PRIZE-GIVING CEREMONIES
The prize-giving ceremonies will take place in the festival stage.
The best 20 Venla teams will be awarded. The teams are requested to arrive to the benches reserved for the winning teams at 18.50 to the north side of the stage. The best 25 teams will be awarded in Jukola. The teams are asked to arrive to the benches reserved for the winning teams at 09.20 to the north side of the stage.

RADIO PHONES
Except for organizers, the use of radio phones using the VHF frequency is strictly forbidden in the competition area.

FORBIDDEN ACTIONS
It is forbidden to advertise, sell or buy any products etc. at any part of the competition area (including accommodation, accommodation areas, parking areas, competition centre etc.) without a written permission from the organizers.

RUNNERS BANK
During the whole relay there is a Runners Bank available in the Internet where teams can seek runners to replace missing team members or a person without team can seek a team for him/herself. For further details, please visit www.jukola2010.net. Near the Info, there is a notice board for contact information. The Runners Bank works as a self service activity.

LOST AND FOUND
All found items are asked to be taken to the Info. During the competition, lost items can be inquired from the Info. After the competition, inquiries should be directed to the Kytäjä-Jukola Office until 30.6.2010, info(at)jukola2010(dot)net. or by phone +358 45 130 2101. No safety boxes for valuables are available.

INVITED GUESTS, VIP
Reception of the invited guests will take place in the VIP tent according to the schedule indicated in the invitation cards. Welcome!

BATTERY CHARGING
There are charging points available for mobile phones and lap tops in Info. Use your own chargers. Cost is 10 euros. See the opening hours of Info.

SMOKING
The smoking places are marked in the map of the competition center area.

ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION
One of the core values of Kytäjä-Jukola is the respect of environment. The competition is arranged in an environmental friendly way and all environmental aspects are considered based on sustainable thinking and principles. Kytäjä-Jukola will not cause remarkable harm for environment.

Kytäjä-Jukola uses an enviroment programme as a tool. The summary of the programme is published in Finnish, English, and in Russian on Kytäjä-Jukola website. All volunteers in Jukola are committed to the programme. Also visitors and competitors are encouraged and instructed to follow the programme.

There is a protected natural area Piilonoja to the north and northwest from the competition centre. This area is totally excluded from the competition area. Also the swamp area with a small lake beside Kytäjäntie is marked as a forbidden area.

All waste water from the competition centre will be directed straight to a new sewer. The toilet waste is not either directed to the terrain.
